I
love to show people how my customers use
the image resources in their businesses.
This page is dedicated to showcasing the many ways
my customers find to employ Jaguarwoman products to
embellish and advertise their own services and products.
Bellebridgebooks.com
and
Bellebooks.com have used my design
resources in their book covers for several years
now, providing a great example of how my images
can be employed in derivative designs for a wide
variety of commercial projects.
BelleBooks, Inc. is a traditional book publisher,
putting out books both in print and in all the digital
media (Kindle, iPad iBook, Sony, BN, etc.). For
more than 10 years, Bellebooks, Inc. has published
regional Southern fiction and they recently added
a new imprint - Bell Bridge Books - to broaden their
publishing footprint. They publish a wide range
of fiction and nonfiction, including fantasy, thriller,
young adult, self-help, and literary fiction.
In
the words of Debra Dixon, President/CEO of BelleBooks,
Inc., Tennessee business consultant and successful
women's fiction author:
For us, like many small publishers who compete
with the big New York publishers, the "package"
or the right cover and cover copy is critically
important. The reader's buying decision starts
the moment they first see the cover. The national
chain buyers will decline to stock a book if they
aren't fans of the cover.

Debra has been a valued customer at Jaguarwoman
Designs for several years and actually creates the
book jacket designs herself. I just love the way
she incorporated one of my dragon images into this
character to emhance the exotic mystery:
I
began doing the covers simply because we weren't
happy with the freelance production. In our price
range we just weren't finding graphics artists who
excited us, who layered and integrated elements.
So, in desperation, I decided to give it a whirl.
I have a little art background, but Photoshop and
serious graphics programs were new to me. I quickly
realized you couldn't just sit down and click a
few buttons! But it all worked out and the folks
in the company are happy. Authors are happy. And
I enjoy the hunt for resources and art.
Currently one of our titles that is on special
is # 4 in the iPad iBookstore (full list) and #
1 on the Fantasy/SF list. That cover (FROST
MOON) uses one of the jaguarwoman dragons
as a tattoo. The book is also available in print
from Amazon, etc. (Debra
Dixon)
I
find these book covers are a great example of skillfully
weaving design resources together to create graphics
that promote sensitive products which rely on visual
impact for sales. I never underestimate the power
of that first visual impression and neither does
Donna.
