Dana &
Robert Embellish Their Backyard Garden, Part II
After the the Vietnamese Landscapers helped us with the backbreaking
labor, we
sighed with relief and set to work laying the brick pavers around the edge
of the beds.
We had a ton of brand new
garden beds to work with now, all with soft, freshly tilled, manured, and
mulched,
nice, wormy topsoil, which had been delivered and laid out for us, for which
we will be forever grateful.
Robert did most of the
border laying because, frankly, he's just faster than I am. But meanwhile
I was
planting Calla Lily bulbs, Morning Glories, Nasturtiums, Cone Flowers, Holly
Hocks, SnapDragons . . . Yum!
Now our baby fruit trees (cherry and apricot) have a nice border and I'm planting flowers around them and all along the fences.
Inside the vegetable enclosure, you can see Robert's ingenious invention for watering our veggies.
All the dogs
help by digging little holes in the ground for us and then watering
all the new plants for us, with . . .uh . . . yellow water.
It looks a little barren now, but mid summer it will be flourishing, we hope,
and next year it will be nice
and mature as we add different kinds of shrubs and bulbs and various plants.
We are very happy with it.
